Trip to Salt Lake

This week at I Heart Faces, we are posting our vacation stories! I thought I’d bring this post back up because it is my latest favorite vacation! It was very short, but it was so fun! So here is my story:

Aaron is a huge Lakers fan and when he found out they were going to play the Jazz in Round One of the Playoffs he said to me “Should we see if we can get tickets?” I thought he was joking! But, he was semi-serious and we found $19 tickets for the first game in Salt Lake last Thursday.

So we quickly made arrangements to leave the girls at his parents’ for two days in exchange for us going to Wallsburg to get their things out of their camper that is stored there. I really wanted to go see Temple Square so we checked into our hotel, that was only half a block from the arena, and we walked down to the temple grounds. I thought it would be an awesome spot to practice with my new camera some more and I was lucky! The weather was gorgeous and the flowers were so beautiful!

enchanted-garden

We found these interesting trees to the side of the temple, they looked so old and something out of a fairy tale! They were perfect though, with the pink flowering trees behind them, it made for an awesome picture!

The flowers at the temple gardens were in full bloom and were just gorgeous!

sky-view

We got to go to the top of the church office building and saw the amazing view. It is gorgeous up there! The sweet elderly lady that was our guide told us that this is the highest point in the valley. It was a fun experience!

reflection

We also went to the roof of the Conference Center and they have this stone tile wall with images of people of different races and time periods. The wall is very reflective so you can see yourself among the people.

ikea

I have heard people just raving about IKEA so I really wanted to stop by and see what all the fuss was about! I thought they had some pretty cool stuff at great prices. I finally found some nice, inexpensive frames for my living room wall. I’ve wanted to re-do it for a little while now.

We ate dinner at the cafe inside, that was the best thing about the store I think! We had chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes for $5 each! And that was the best chicken fried steak I have ever had! So next time we’re down here, we will have to stop and get dinner again!

tip-off

The game!! We were so excited! The Lakers had already one the first two games in the series, we just knew the game would be a blow-out. Well, it didn’t start good and it didn’t end good! They lost by two points. Aaron feels he is bad luck for the Lakers because the only two games we have gone to, they have lost! It was a fun game though, and oh my heck those Jazz fans are loud!! We left with a couple headaches and ringing ears!

lambs

Friday morning we left to go up to Wallsburg to get the things out of the camper. We stopped by Aaron’s uncle’s house and we saw these sweet little lambs in the yard! They are only a few weeks old. A perfect picture of Spring!

We lucked out the weather for our trip! It was sunny and warm on Thursday and it was supposed to be 50, rainy and cold on Friday, but it turned out to be warm and sunny! It was so nice to have a little break from normal life!

Wow, those trees are stunning! I enjoyed reading about your trip! The lambs are adorable! And I’m a basketball nut, too, only I root for the Celtics. I’m hoping for an LA/Boston finals but it’s not looking good for my boys!

When you had SLC down as you destination, I had to read since I live there! It was fun to read about it from the point of view of someone who dosn’t live here. You came at the perfect time to see Temple Square! I’m glad you enjoyed yourself!

In all the times I’ve been to temple square, we’ve never once thought to go up in the church office building. We really need to do that!!! Your photos are SO beautiful. I especially love the first one and the reflection picture.

Hi there, I was looking for a place just to email you, but couldn’t find one. So, I apolgize if this is a little long. I love, love, love your photo of temple square with the pink trees in bloom. I live in Utah and have always wanted a great temple square photo, but wanted something beautiful and different than what you can buy at deseret book. Is that photo for sale? I would love to have a copy to hang in my home. If it is, just let me know how much and where to mail the check!! Thanks, pamela
