This week at I Heart Faces the theme is Nostalgia. I went through a lot of ideas but one of my favorites turned out to be this picture. I am a huge bookworm. I just love to read. Autumn loves it too and I am so excited to share with her all of my favorite books from when I was a kid. Sammy the Seal is one that I absolutely loved! I read the heck out of that book and practically had it memorized! I can’t wait until she’d old enough for my old Babysitter’s Club books! She’s going to love them!
Check out I Heart Faces for some more great nostalgia pictures!
This past Saturday night we took the girls to the local speedway for their “Eve of Destruction!” They had some great races, but the favorite of the night was the trailer races. They are hilarious! Old, beat up clunker cars pull these old, beat up crap trailers around the track in a race. The last one standing, or driving in this case, wins. Destruction and mayhem = Great family fun! The girls had a blast!
We were sitting at the very top of the stands and I turn around just in time to see this gorgeous sunset. I love where I live!
This week for My Favorite Things I want to share with you my sister, Misti! She is my best friend and one of the most coolest people! She is a very talented graphic designer, artist and photographer and a few years years ago she published her first book, Color Made Easy. Misti recently got engaged to a wonderful guy and is busy planning her wedding on top of working with me on building our new website! She’s the one designing all the graphics, logos and ads, and all of the digital scrapbook layouts, papers and stuff!
I am not good at writing (if you already didn’t know!) so if you want to know more about her, she’s got a great bio over at her website! I can just say that I totally love her and she is my bestest friend! I’m so glad she’s my sister and so happy I have the opportunity of working with her and her amazing talents!
And by the way…It’s her birthday today! So happy birthday Misti! I love you! You can wish her a happy birthday too right here! I know it will just make her day!
Six years ago this precious little angel was born. She was due on the first day of Autumn and that’s why she’s named Autumn! But…this little sweetheart was operating on her own schedule and decided she just could not wait 5 1/2 more weeks to come.
About three weeks before she was born, I started having very severe pain in my liver area. When we called the nurse, they just told us I was probably having heartburn. Heartburn?? I had never in my life had heartburn that felt like that before! The pain would come every couple days or so. We kept calling and they kept insisting it was heartburn and I’d be fine. This went on and on the night of the 16th, I was laying in bed after having a lovely evening celebrating our anniversary and the pain started again. I’m normally not the type of person to run to the doctor for everything, so I was quite surprised when Aaron asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital I immediately agreed.
We get to the hospital and after many hours my doctor tells me I have a very rare and severe type of pre-eclampsia called HELLP Syndrome and we would have to deliver the baby immediately or we both would not survive. So I was sent in for an emergency c-section and Autumn was born in the morning of the 17th. She was in pretty good shape for what we had gone through and only had to stay in the NICU for 10 days. We were given so many blessings and I know I was inspired to agree to go the hospital that night.
In six short years she has gone from this: 5 1/2 weeks premature, 4 lbs. 13oz., 18 1/3 inches…
…to this: 6 years old, 45 lbs., 46.5 inches, toothy smile from losing 9 teeth already, growing so fast I can’t keep up with her! I’m so thankful to have a healthy, happy little girl! In just two short weeks she’ll be off to kindergarten. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself! I’m not ready for my girl to be growing up!
