Last week in Autumn’s kindergarten class, they made Monster Toast for their snack! Since then, Autumn has been begging me to do monster toast for breakfast! So we did! It is such a fun and easy snack to do with your kids!

All you do is put a tiny bit of milk into small bowls or cups, and add 2 to 3 drops of food coloring in each bowl. We did the basic colors: red, blue, yellow and green. Toast pieces of bread and then let your children paint monster faces on them! I toasted them again when they were done to warm them up and dry the milk paint. Spread some butter on and enjoy!

I was playing with this daisy picture today and I thought it might be neat with a texture. But now I’m not so sure. What do you think? Texture…

The Pumpkin Patch

by Michelle on October 27, 2009

in Uncategorized,family

Last night we decided to go to the pumpkin patch and corn maze for family home evening. It started out all warm and pleasant, the weather was really nice. So we get there, buy our admission and hop on the trailer for a hay ride. They took us out around the back of the farm, stopped and said we could get off and pick some pumpkins. There were two tractors giving hay rides, so ours left and we figured we’d hop on the next one to go back.

So, we looked around for a couple minutes and found a tiny little pumpkin for Autumn. As we were looking for one for Summer, I looked out to the west and it was black with a wall of dust coming straight for us!! Literally within two seconds seeing that the wind hit us so hard! Summer was nearly knocked over! Then the rain started and it was so hard and cold. It stung our faces and the girls were crying and so scared! Autumn kept asking us “How are we ever going to get out of this?” We picked them up and carried them along the little road back to the parking lot. That was sure tough carrying 36 extra pounds of Summer in the wind and rain!!

We heard later that we got 50-60 mph winds, and we were right in the middle of it stranded in a farm! So we ended up with one tiny pumpkin, dirt in our eyes, wet, cold clothes, and scared girls! I didn’t get any pictures except for this… This was our windshield, there was grass and dirt and mud all over the car!
