The ingredients for a new batch of cleansing oil. I do the oil cleansing method for my face and I just ran out of my last batch. This time I decided to try grapeseed oil in place of the olive oil. It feels so much lighter and I think I love it!

Okay, you need to give us the recipe. I’ve seen the one at Simple Mom for 1/2 EV olive oil and 1/2 castor oil, is it the same with extras?

Hi Chris! That’s the recipe I did earlier, only I added a bit of tea tree oil. I found the olive oil a little heavy for my face so I tried grapeseed oil this time. I did 60% castor oil and 40% grapeseed oil with a bit of tea tree oil. There’s many different ratios for different types of skin. I have very oily skin so I use more castor oil. Drier skin can use less castor oil and more of the other oil. I’ve read that normal skin does well with a 25% castor 75% other oil ratio. Extra oils like the tea tree oil and essential oils are extra, on top of the 50/50 ratio (or whatever you find works for your skin). So they’re not part of the ration. I hope that makes sense!

Thanks, Michelle, that does make sense. I’ll have to try and see what is best for me. I used to have oily skin but now that I’m older my skin is changing to more of a combination.

Wow, Michelle. It looks like a chemistry experiment. Is that castor oil?
