It’s Fix-It Friday time again at I Heart Faces! If you haven’t checked out their brand new site yet, head on over! It is beautiful and everything is so easy to find. This week it’s all about Teens and for our fix-it post we have a beautiful senior girl taken by co-founder Angie.
Wow! This is one gorgeous girl! Angie did a fabulous job and it was so much fun to work on this photo! I love the vivid, fun colors so I wanted to give those a boost and keep the photo as natural as possible.
1. The first thing I did was crop. Now, I mentioned in my last Fix-It Friday post that I am not a good cropper! I just never know where or what to crop! But these Fix-It Fridays are challenging me to try it and by golly, I think I’m getting the hang of it!
2. Then I decided to clone over the bright object just behind her. My eye kept going straight to that so I got rid of it! I also cloned part of the tree in the left corner.
3. Next, I started my basic steps for a clean edit. I created a Levels Adjustment Layer and brought the two outside sliders in towards the middle just a tiny bit. This gets rid of the “digital haze” from the photo and gives it nice boost.
4. I ran my Darkening action from Love That Shot and brushed around the edges and everywhere except the girl. I ran it again and brushed around the very edges to bring the focus to the girl.
5. Next, I ran my Warming action from Love That Shot.
6. Then I created a Color Balance Adjustment Layer and adjusted the settings to add in some blue and cyan to the shadows. I adjusted the opacity down to 75%.
7. Finally I ran the High Pass filtler to sharpen the photo, set to 5.5 pixels and the blending mode set to Soft Light.
And that’s it! Pretty simple yet beautiful results! Here’s the final image and the before and after:
