Last week was a pretty nice week for taking pictures! It just flew by and I missed a couple of days, but oh well!
I found this huge clover in a patch of weeds in my yard. It was like a gaint compared to the rest of them! Taken with my 50mm lens: f/1.4; 1/640 sec.; ISO-100.

Some of my beautiful lilacs. I wish you could smell them… their fragrance is heavenly! Taken with my 50mm lens: f/1.4; 1/125 sec.; ISO-100.
This is in the parking lot of Albertson’s! I was in the car waiting for Aaron when I noticed the gorgeous sunset. One of the lucky few times I had my camera with me! (No, I don’t carry my camera with me wherever I go! I wish I was one of those people, but seriously… life, with two little girls, happens and I don’t always remember to bring it!)

Saturday my sister, Misti, and I went to the park to shoot a new photography video for our website, OpenScrapbook. (It will be coming very soon! Keep your eyes out for it!
) There were geese everywhere! We saw this momma and her babies coming out of the pond. I caught this little guy shaking off the water!

Sunday we drove out to Aaron’s parents house for Mother’s Day. On the way I noticed the beautiful sunset and the gorgeous light it was throwing everywhere! All the plants were just glowing! I asked Aaron if would mind stopping so I could snap a few pictures. (To many of you, that would be no big deal! But for me, it is! I never ask to stop anywhere to take pictures…I always plan trips to go shoot. But I’m trying to be more spontaneous so I don’t miss anymore great photos!)

Iris blossoms are one of my favorite flowers. They hold a lot of memories for me from when I was growing up. When I was twelve, we moved from our trailer house in a tiny truck-stop/mining town to a real house in a real city. A real house! I was so excited! One of the first things I noticed about our new house was there were three huge bushes full of iris blossoms. They were so beautiful! I loved to pick flowers for my mom when I was little (and still do actually! May Day brought a nice little bouquet of lilacs and irises to my mom
).
Every spring we lived in that house, I’d pick bunches of iris blossoms for my mom! I’ve always wanted to plant my own iris bushes, so a couple years ago I finally got some. They turned out to be dwarf ones so they don’t grow very big. That was a bit of a disappointment, but I got over it! I love them now and I love that now my girls love them and pick them for me!
This photo was taken with my 50mm lens: f/1.4, 1/320 sec., ISO 100. I processed it in Photoshop CS3, scroll down to see a before & after!

Yesterday Aaron and I went for a drive and a hike in the foothills. It was threatening to rain all day and we had some sprinkles here and there but nothing too wet! We hiked for about 15 minutes up a snowy road to the top of one of the hills. On the hill to my left and behind, there were a bunch of elk. There were probably around 30 of them… Aaron was in heaven! So we watched them for a little while and then I came over to this spot to take some pictures of the valley. Aaron wasn’t too far away, just down the hill a bit to look for elk sheds.
Just as I was taking these photos, I heard a loud sound… I thought it was the elk making noise, but a second later there were more. They were high-pitched howling noises! Aaron came running up the hill and told me we need to go now! Terror and absolute fear took over me! He said they were wolves and a lot of them! I have never been so scared! We had no gun or any way to defend ourselves. I had no idea wolves would be down this low. I always thought they’d be up in the mountains more. So we made sure they weren’t coming our way (they were on the back side of the opposite hill we were on) and we got the heck out of there!
I had nightmares last night… I was so scared! I didn’t get many more pictures after that, I wasn’t going to get out of the truck!
